Some Moments to remember…

In an earlier story I wrote about some of the area team accomplishments for this past school year… Now I am going to look back at a few of the special moments:

Reeds Spring Football- Hard not to remember the tough 2.5 minutes at Bolivar.  For the whole night it looked like the Wolves were about to end the Liberator domination only to have in come crashing down in a blitzkrieg of offense from the Libs.  But instead of dwelling on that I choose to remember the Cassville game; The goal line stand and just as important the ensuing methodical offensive drive that took time off the clock.

Layn Hurst- Not sure the area has ever seen such a big record set with as little fanfare.  The guy is the all-time RBI leader in high school baseball in America.  And to top it off has the record for hits as well.

Branson Basketball- What a season of coming together.  Playing the year without two expected starters the Pirates surprised EVERYONE with winning the COC Title.  It was the win against Republic that clinched it… But, in my opinion, it was the upset against Ozark that made them believe it could happen.

School of the Ozarks Basketball- An incredible run that ended one game short of a Final Four appearance.  A wonderful combination of three point shooting and solid inside play… But it was the defense that made the difference and really made this team go.

Colton Pomeroy and Nick Haddock-  I know I mentioned RS football above but need to mention these two guys.  Pomeroy is as tough as they come.  He is the definition of a FOOTBALL PLAYER.  Solid defense, among the best hitters that I have seen.  Offensively, not afraid to get those tough yards between the tackles but would just assume put a foot in the ground, make you miss and head to the house.  Haddock’s development as a QB and a leader was the difference for Reeds Spring this year.  Dude stepped up more than anyone could have imagined.  Gets a chance to play at the next level.  He leaves RS after the best season, stats wise,  a QB has ever seen at the school.

S of O Cross-Country-  Basketball got coverage and deserving so.  But this group should not be overlooked.  Both the Boys and Girls were state qualifiers as teams with the Girls posting a sixth place finish at state.

Forsyth baseball finished the end of an era.  No longer will they play Fall Baseball and for the second year in a row say “good bye” to a group of seniors that have been huge mainstays of the program.

Plenty of other events from National Cross-Country qualifiers at C of O to nationally ranked men and women basketball at the school as well.  We had state medalists in Wrestling and plenty of success on the track.

I could go on for a bit, but you get the idea, lots of memories from the 2015-2016 season.

Time to relax a little, but Fall will be here before you know it…. and lots to look forward to:

and that will be a story for a different day……
