As this final half day comes to a close, so does the Coaching careers at Reeds Spring for some Special Folks.
Andy McFarland is off to Willard to take the Tigers Football program to new heights and Trish Marsh is going home, and will, likely, in my opinion, return a State Championship Trophy to the case at Marshfield.
Coach McFarland stepped into a tough position at Reeds Spring. He replaced the winningest football coach in program history. He took over at a time that none of us could ever imagine at the time, the start of a global pandemic. Yet, all he did was implement his system. In year three, that led to a place no other Reeds Spring football team has been, THE SHOW ME BOWL.
To me, however, it was not the winning that makes McFarland special. Its the relationships. Whether its kids he coaches or teaches, coaches he works with, or a short, overweight, announcer that bugs him all the time, Andy has that special something that brings out the best, in people. We are so blessed that we have had the time with him we have.
Coach Marsh is absolutely incredible at what she does. She knows how to relate to her players and knows how to get the best out of them. She is demanding, but does it in a way that makes players want to give that and more. The job she did this year was incredible. It goes so much further than wins and losses. Ask any area coach, and they will tell you about the upward trend of the Lady Wolves and how scarry they think they might be over the next few years. While she may have only spent one year in red and white, her impact over our students will be felt for years to come.
I would be remis of I didnt mention Jason Reinsch. Although Jason will be easier to find for us at Reeds Spring. He is leaving the baseball program. My relationship with Coach Reinsch and baseball go all the way back to his days at College of the Ozarks. It has been an absolute pleasure to work closer with him the past few seasons. Look forward to his continued impact on our kids.
While I am so happy with the coaches that will be taking over each of these programs and look forward to the successes that each will have, its still a tough day seeing these incredible people leave. I will forever be grateful for their contributions and everything that they have poured into our kids and so blessed that I will continue to call each of them FRIEND.
