It was a long Friday night for both Reeds Spring and Hollister, but at Pirate Stadium, the Branson Pirates picked up a big win over rival Ozark.
Branson had jumped out to a 20-7 lead over their rivals from up Hwy 65 but Ozark had come back to take a 21-20 lead late in the game. The Pirates did not panic. They drove down the field and into field goal range. Enter freshman kicker Dane Efird who, like a seasoned veteran, calmly took the field and split the uprights to give the Pirates a 23-21 victory.
Reeds Spring found out exactly why Lamar is the odds on favorite to win State Championship #9. The Tigers controlled most every facet of the game and rolled to a 54-13 win, in the Wolves home opener.
Hollister fell to 1-1 as well, dropping a 54-28 decision to Nevada. And, Forsyth fell a little short as well. The Panthers lost 34-27 to Buffalo.
