Its a special day anytime an athlete excels enough in a sport that a college wants them to come and play for their school. And when that athlete is good enough to do in in two different sports, well, that is truly amazing…. enter Carley Reeves-Eakins.
Last week Eakins signed a national letter of intent to play Volleyball AND Basketball at Carl Sandburg College in Illinois.
Eakins story is one of overcoming adversity. She missed her sophomore season of basketball after tearing an ACL in the preseason jamboree. She missed the end of the volleyball season, and the whole basketball season, her junior year, after tearing the ACL in her other knee. That was followed by an eye condition that left her future in doubt. But she overcame to help lead the Lady Wolves Volleyball team to Sectionals and an finish in the Elite Eight. She was named All-State for her efforts. She has grown on the basketball court as well, despite spending almost two full years away from it….
Excited to see what Carley can do at the next level…
