Pink and White seeds were released today for the Tournament that will take place on the Drury Campus December 27-31. And if the seedings are any kind of indication, This is a tournament that you will not want to miss. Some of the best girls basketball you can see anywhere will be on display.
I was a little surprised to see that Branson could garner no better than a #5 seed. I guess that might tell you how deep this field is. Coach Kip Bough’s girls will play in the White division and play their opening round game at the O’Reilly Family Event Center at 12:30 the opening day of the event.
Its a loaded field, with North Little Rock and Argyle, TX taking the two number one seeds. You can tell its a stacked field if Kickapoo and Strafford are seeded number two. But, that’s where the surprise, for me, came in. Ozark, which Branson beat twice last year (Lady Pirates have four of their five starters back including All-Stater Amanda Kearney) got one of the #3 slots. I will admit there could easily be something I dont know about. Perhaps the Lady Tigers got a talented transfer or something. They have certainly been getting a lot of talk here in the early season. Don’t get me wrong it could very well be justified. Small School Power Skyline got the other #3 seed. Out of the area teams Rockbridge and Mercer, KY took the fourth slots.
